Free residential course to focus on career development for animal nutrition scientists
We're doing it again - a free 3 day workshop to develop skills and share insights critical to a building a career as a scientist in the animal nutrition field.

The residential course, sponsored by WALTHAM, supports those in the early stages of their professional careers. It provides an opportunity to explore a range of essential skills for their success, such as sharing insights to secure research funding, building a publication portfolio, working with industry, through to understanding emotional intelligence. The three day workshop will be held in North Carolina from 28 July to 1 August 2019 and is a joint venture between the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN) and the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition (AAVN). A detailed agenda will be available in January.

The event is free to successful applicants, with course fees, food, drink and accommodation included. The only expected cost to participants will be travel to venue. This year the event will be held in near Asheville, North Carolina, US. (There will be travel grants available to those with long haul trips).

The workshop is intended for those who recently completed their PhD, in post doctoral, lecturer or Associate Professor positions and wish to pursue a research career in animal nutrition. It is open to ESVCN and AAVN members, but with full membership from 50E (ESVCN) or $75 (AAVN) and including a host of other benefits, it is accessible to all early career animal nutrition scientists.

Applications can be made by sending your CV and covering letter outlining why you would benefit from the workshop to tina.blackmore@effem.com. Closing date for applications is 29 January 2019. Applications will be reviewed by the organising committee, which includes representatives from the AAVN, ESVCN and WALTHAM. Successful applicants will be notified in February.

Successful applicants will be notified in February.
If the successful applicant is not a current member, they must join either the ESVCN or AAVN within 1 month to secure their place.
Information regarding travel grants will be shared once successful applicants have been selected. Successful applicants will have 1 month to confirm their attendance. If attendance is not confirmed, the workshop place may be offered to other applicants.
A refundable deposit of $100 (for AAVN members) or 100E (for ESVCN members) is required to secure the place. This will be refunded on attendance at the event.
